We will be having our Batizado (belting ceremony) with Los Angeles's Mestre Batata on April 28, 2018!

Capoeira Batizados are a unique experience by which members of the capoeira community and outside schools are welcome to participate in the ranking of students.  They are a celebratory event that includes workshops, a belting ceremony and rodas (where you play capoeira).  Parents and Friends are invited to attend! To aquire your belt you must play a high ranking member of the capoeira community.  

Everyone will be invited to attend workshops, receive a Batizado 2018 T-shirt and a hand-made Capoeira Besouro Belt!

Friday April 27th

  • 4:00-5:30 Workshop Adults (advanced kids)

  • 5:30 Roda

Saturday April 28th

  • 11:00-12:00 Workshop ages 9-12

  • 12:00-1:00 Lunch

  • 1:00-2:00 Workshop ages 5-8

  • 2:00-3:00 Belting Ceremony and Roda


 

REGISTRATION INCLUDES

  • Capoeria Besouro Batizado 2018 Tshirt (can be used as school uniform)

  • Workshops taught by Mestre Batata (Greenbelt kids can attend Adult and 9-12 year old workshops.

  • Potluck lunch on Saturday with Feijoada (traditional black bean, plantain and meat dish) cooked by Professor Santo

BELTS

*Belts are determined by number of skills known, age and ability to participate productively in class. As the level rises the student is expected to be able to support peers of lower belt levels.  In the Roda, a mature player responds to his or her partner with compassion, respect and axé (energy).
